| At present, more than half of the world’s 7.1 billion people live in urban areas. Further, estimates say that nearly 70% of the world’s carbon dioxide emissions are produced in these urban areas. The urban population is projected to continue growing rapidly, and as such, the importance of cities is growing significantly in considering environmental problems. | 現在、世界人口約71億人の半分以上が都市で生活し、世界のCO2排出量の70％近くは都市から排出されると言われている。都市人口は今後も急速な増加が予想されており、地球環境を考える上で、都市の重要性は高まっていると考えられる。 |
